Diabetes Self Management Program Educates About Disease

Murphy, NC  – Murphy Medical Center’s accredited Diabetes Self Management Program is now being offered to residents of Cherokee County, Clay County, and Graham County. Led by Susi Brown RN, she is certified by the American Diabetes Educators Association, and has been educating employees with diabetes and their family members for the past three years.

The Diabetes Self Management Program offers education on diabetes management, understanding and measuring the body’s sugar level, and healthy eating options. Patients must be under a physician’s care, and a written order and referral is required from the doctor. The program is covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance companies that cover diabetes self management training.
